Dental veneers are shells made from a durable and tooth-like ceramic material that are bonded onto the front of your teeth to help you create a smile that will boost your confidence. Veneers are a great alternative to more extensive cosmetic work and are sometimes preferred over other similar cosmetic procedures such as dental bonding.

Veneers can help with:●  teeth that are severely stained or discoloured● cracked or chipped teeth● teeth that are badly worn●  uneven or crooked teeth● teeth with gaps between them●  teeth with large fillings

What to Expect

If you have your teeth improved with custom-made veneers, your experience at Niagara-on-the-Lake Dental would go something like this:

1. Freezing

First, Dr. Clark will freeze the area being worked on with a local anaesthetic. This will leave your teeth and gums numb, making sure that you are comfortable throughout the procedure.

2. Shaping

Dr. Clark will then reshape your teeth to create space for the veneers. Using a dental file, he will carefully shave away part of the enamel into which the veneers will fit. Dr. Clark will ensure that only a minimal amount of enamel is removed to preserve the structural integrity of the teeth.

3. Impression and Custom Construction:

Next, an iTero digital scan will be taken of the newly shaped teeth. This is sent to a dental lab, and the professionals there will produce custom-made veneers from the moulds, making certain that the finished pieces fit together perfectly. This may take up to a few weeks.

4. Texturing Teeth

When you return to the office, Dr. Clark will treat your teeth with a mild acidic solution that will etch them, giving them a rough texture. This will allow a stronger bond to form between the ceramic veneers and your natural teeth.

5. Cementing, Trimming and Polishing

Finally, the veneers will be cemented to your teeth. A composite resin will be applied, and the veneers will be carefully fitted one at a time. An intense light will then be used to cure the dental cement to ensure a solid bond. Any rough portions of excess cement will be carefully trimmed away, and your teeth will be thoroughly polished, to give you a bright and dazzling smile.
